Nothing is Something like Everything

Everything that happens runs through our fingers. Time leaves nothing as it was: this is what has always called its power to mind for humans. Over the course of the performance, on the way to all or nothing, inconspicuous little things from everyday life are examined to reflect the logic and illogic of time. By sharing personal experiences of their lives, seven performers raise philosophical questions about our past and future—while a large digital clock on stage counts down every single second of an entire hour. Together we share time, use time and lose time, until we collectively reach the point of absolute oblivion.

Flowers bloom vividly, bread turns rock hard. The dynamic of time is a decisive factor in any live artistic event where common time is experienced on stage and among the audience. This group piece is characterized by Matsune’s distinct approach, where gestures, pauses and empty moments play significant roles. Rather than relying on dramatic narratives, the performance focuses on the subtleties of human behavior and interaction, incorporating elements of humor, surprise and reflection—challenging the audience to find significance in the mundane and to appreciate overlooked aspects of life.
