Mattress Pieces
The word mattress derives from the Arabic word matrah, meaning "where something is thrown down" or "where something lies down". It is a place for us to sleep, to wake up, to think, to love, to be ill and maybe to exhale one's last breath. The project looks at this intimate place as a stage for images and stories of intimacy, dream and death. Michikazu Matsune's Mattress Pieces explores the universal feeling of our longing and belonging.
